Rochester’s artistic heritage

A design challenge solved by looking and learning from the craftsmen of the Middle Ages.

Project: Brand identity   Client: Rochester Cathedral

While working on an interpretation project for Rochester Cathedral, we were commissioned to create a new visual identity. Our inspiration came from the building’s architectural features and decorative arts including medieval tiling, from which we derived a series of patterns, and a colour palette reflecting hues and tones found in the stained glass windows. With these and other design elements in place, we were then able to apply them to merchandise, signage, online and printed material.
